EYESIGHT AS A HOLISTIC APPROACH

The Bates Method has proven to address the underlying root causes of imperfect vision instead of treating the symptoms.

It may be likened to physical therapy for the eyes and students learn to build vision while decreasing dependence on artificial lenses. Almost all functional vision problems can be overcome and reversed with natural methods through relaxation.

Step 1 is always deep relaxation of the eyes, visual system, mind and body. Step 2 and beyond are customized to your eyes, lifestyle and dedication to a daily practice of Bates Method Vision Improvement techniques — like a daily yoga practice. The more practice, the more flexible you will become. It’s easy when you do it!

We teach integrating the visual system into the body’s multiple systems, linking eyes to posture, the mind and the nervous system often working with traditional eye care professionals to relieve extraneous stress and strain of the visual system and body.

Association of Vision Educators include Natural Vision Teachers, behavioral optometrists, ophthalmologists and numerous professionals dedicated to educating techniques to relieve strain through relaxation techniques and inviting the visual system to realign to a natural relaxed state. Many of our Vision Teachers offer a multitude of natural, alternative therapies which enhance Bates Method Natural Vision Improvement techniques.

A VISION TEACHER’S APPROACH TO THE BATES METHOD

For those of us who have had vision improvement experience for ourselves and our students, the Bates Method is no longer a controversial 100 year old theory but an established fact.

We do not question whether it can be done, it is being done as we see the results from our students on a daily basis. We support restoration of impaired eyes to normal sight using techniques of the Bates Method by simply allowing normal eyes to relax, flow and focus naturally so clearer vision automatically follows.

The techniques we teach are for the purpose of building reactions by consciously training the neuro-muscular control of the eyes to follow the normal pattern for seeing.

Trained in the research of Dr. William H. Bates who documented how relaxation increases vision and strain decreased vision, the worldwide Association of Vision Educators teach students to improve visual function and habits in a holistic approach.

This includes: integrating the visual system into the body’s multiple systems, linking eyes to posture, the mind and the nervous system by reducing systemic stress and strain.

YES, IT WORKS!

Eyesight is an important part of the holistic healthcare picture. How we see can change and it impacts our body, mind and emotions.

The Bates Method techniques have helped everyday people like us — as well as more well-known folks like:

  • Paul McCartney

  • Pope John Paul II

  • Aldous Huxley

  • Christiane Northrup, MD

  • J. Krishnamurti

  • Joseph M. Mercola, MD

  • Kirk Douglas

Paul McCartney posted in 2021 at age 79 that he uses vision techniques to keep himself glasses free!

Paul exclaims, “I don’t know if it means that’s why I don’t  need glasses when I’m reading a newspaper,” he said. “It makes sense, you know?  It’s a good idea.”  Wouldn’t YOU want to read a newspaper at 79 without external correction?

Follow along to Paul’s YouTube Video practicing “Clocks,” allowing relaxation and movement of extraocular muscles.

Kirk Douglas, the actor, attests to the success of vision improvement in his autobiography, The Ragman’s Son (1988), describing how he failed the eye test for entry into the Navy during World War II and after reading a book on the topic says, “I read it and did the exercises for a month.  Then I passed the eye examination and joined the Navy.”
